What to do RIGHT NOW
Burst Pipe
Turn off the main shutoff immediately. On island properties, this is often located near the pressure tank in a crawlspace, pump house, or utility room.
Sewage Backup
Stop all water use in the house immediately (no flushing, no sinks). Open windows for ventilation. Call a professional immediately.
No Water / Pump Failure
Check your electrical panel breaker first. If it's on, check the gauge on your pressure tank to see if it's reading zero.
Frozen Pipes
DO NOT use an open flame to thaw pipes. Use a hair dryer, space heater, or wrap pipes in warm towels. Keep the faucet open while thawing.
Water Heater Failure
Check the pilot light if you have a propane heater (very common on Denman). Check the breaker if electric.
